May 29, 2011 Kids of Steel Triathlon and Adult Duathlon

Triathlon is a multi-sport event consisting of swimming, cycling and running. For those who think water is only for drinking, Duathlon is a sport that combines running, cycling and more running. Triathlon distances vary from "try-a-tri" (300m swim, 15km bike, 2.5 km run) to "Ironman" (3.9km swim, 180km bike and a full marathon of 42.2km). The standard racing distances are Sprint (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) and Olympic (1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run). Duathlon distances are similar, but substitute the swim with a run (2.5km or 5km first run).

As a seasonal club, the PTC trains from January to October with the majority of training and race opportunities taking place in the spring and summer. Throughout the winter months (January to early April), the club holds weekly training sessions at local indoor facilities with the opportunity to be trained by experienced triathletes and certified coaches. The club welcomes both males and females, youth to adult (starting at 8 years old).

The club  will also  organize and host multi-sport races within the community, creating local and provincial interest in our city.  See the race schedule for details.

See the training section for equipment needs and the training sample schedule pages.
